An Unforgettable 2025 European Concert Tour
The Bratislava Boys' Choir is preparing for a performance in the Eternal City at a special concert titled Canto per la Speranza (Singing for Hope), which will be part of the National Pilgrimage during the Jubilee Year. This event takes place only once every 25 years. The concert promises to be a profound expression of the connection between music and faith and will take place on April 4, 2025, at 7:30 PM in the Basilica of St. Praxedes.
On the same day in the morning at 10:00 AM, health permitting for Pope Francis, he will receive pilgrims from Slovakia, including our singers, at the Great Audience. For this occasion, our choir has prepared the piece Ave Verum Corpus by Charles Gounod and the song Memento Domine David by Franz Xaver Tost. Songs from the Catholic Hymnal will also be performed.
We have obtained this exceptional opportunity thanks to the trust placed in us by the Slovak Embassy in the Vatican: “We are honored. His Excellency, Ambassador Juraj Priputen, approached us with this beautiful idea in the autumn.”
We will be accompanied by pianist and organist Martin Hríň and soprano singer Adriána Šimková. Listeners can also look forward to exceptional child soloists who have already enchanted audiences around the world with their remarkable voices.
“The preparations for this European tour are intense. We rehearse three to four times a week. We aspire to deliver a unique experience to our visitors. We haven’t had a concert during the Lenten season for a long time, so it was necessary to introduce the boys to new pieces, explaining the meaning of the texts and the music, which often resonates with themes of sorrow, but also of hope and faith.”

The concert in Rome is part of a broader European concert tour for the Bratislava Boys' Choir, which also includes performances in Germany and France.
From Rome, our choir will move on to France. We are preparing for a joint concert with the Lyon Boys' Choir “La Maîtrise des Chartreux Lyon.” A concert full of enchanting melodies will be held in Lyon at the Church of St. Augustine on April 10, 2025, at 8:00 PM.“La Maîtrise des Chartreux Lyon” has been enchanting audiences of all ages with its stunning harmonies and moving performances since 1985. With over 70 talented boys, they represent a perfect blend of traditional choral music and contemporary styles. Like our Bratislava Boys' Choir, La Maîtrise des Chartreux Lyon has performed at prestigious venues around the world, from magnificent cathedrals to concert halls, sharing their passion for music with thousands of spectators.
From Lyon, we will further move on to Germany. We invite you to take a look into the world of our next friendly choir, the Munich Boys' Choir “Münchner Knabenchor.” We plan to hold a joint concert in Munich at the Church of St. Charles Borromeo (St. Karl Borromäus) on April 12, 2025, at 4:30 PM.
This is a relatively young choir that has maintained high quality since its rapid rise to fame in 2014. Since then, it has gathered and cultivated talented young voices that fill concert halls from Munich to the world. In its ten years of existence, the choir has already completed 500 performances, including stunning shows in Italy, China, and South Korea. Like ours, the choir proves that music knows no boundaries. Their debut at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie made them the first boys' choir to ever perform there! We are very pleased that our boys can exchange experiences and form beautiful new friendships with their friends from Munich.
“The European tour ahead of us is a wonderful reward for the effort the boys put into studying challenging musical compositions,” concludes the conductor and choir director, Magdaléna Rovňáková.
