Eagerly awaiting Christmas!

The Bratislava Boys’ Choir prepared a rich Christmas season for its fans and supporters. Our performers will be on stage 26 times.

“This Christmas, we are again working very closely with the Slovak National Theater (SND) and with the Slovak Philharmonic. A special cooperation brings opportunities in presenting our art. To manage the sheer number of engagements we had to split the choir into two performing ensembles which alternate in performance,” says Magdaléna Rovňáková, the choir conductor and manager.

Eagerly awaiting Christmas!

A full month of December for the Bratislava Boys’ Choir opened with a Christmas concert in Malacky. Shortly after, the choir performs its new project with the Slovak National Theater; St. Nicholas Concert Series. The boys perform with Katarína Juhásová, Peter Mikuláš and other soloists from SNT. They are led by a young conductor, Ondrej Olos. The Christmas program continues with a traditional concert on December 8, in the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Bratislava.

A unique concert takes place in the synagogue in Lučenec. The Bratislava Boys’ Choir is presented with the world-renowned opera diva, Adrianou Kučerová. This exceptional soloist is featured alongside our choir in the Christmas in Bratislava concert which has become an annual tradition in the Slovak National Theater. The event also features Monika Fabianová, Pavol Breslik, Pavol Remenár and Teo Gertler as well as the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra conducted by an alumnus from the Bratislava Boys’ Choir, Peter Valentovič.

From December 18-21 the ensemble tops the season with four concerts in the Slovak Philharmonic featuring young performers. The first half of the concert belongs to the Slovak Philharmonic Choir, and the soprano Veronika Mihálková and Roman Janál, the baritone. The second half features traditional Christmas carols and well-known melodies. The concert is led by Kaspar Zehnder, the Swiss conductor.

Choir boys also feature in The Nutcracker presented in cooperation with the Slovak National Theater Ballet. They can also be seen in The Magic Flute, Turandot, and Tosca.

We are always thinking of our supporters online as well as our concert audiences. We prepared many musical surprises for them all. They can take a peek behind the scenes and get to know our singers and leadership,” says Gabriel Rovňák Jr., the ensemble’s conductor. You can see more at www.facebook.com/boyschoir and www.bchz.sk

Voice coaches Miriam Garajová, Monika Maglayová a Lýdia Drahošová are supporting our singers during this busy season with their expertise in vocal technique. The ensemble is accompanied by Dana Hajóssy, the pianist.
